I was listening to Dr. Myles Munroe speak about Genesis 1:3, where God said, “Let there be light,” and it made me think about what light represents in our walk with God.

Light brings clarity.

It allows us to see what is around us and distinguish between what is right and what is wrong.

In Genesis, light appears before the sun, moon, and stars are introduced. That made me think about how God brings clarity and order even before everything around us looks complete.

And perhaps that is where many of us are today.

We live in a world where everything can become a grey area.

We create our own standards. We decide what is right based on what feels comfortable, what everyone else is doing, or what we can somehow justify.

We say, “It may not be right for everyone, but it is right for me.”

But what happens when we allow our feelings to become our standard?

We can slowly move away from God’s truth without even realizing it.

God’s Word gives us something different.

“Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.”

Psalm 119:105

A lamp does not illuminate the entire journey at once. It gives us enough light to know where to place our next step.

God’s Word does the same.

It gives us direction when the path is unclear. It helps us discern what aligns with God and what does not.

Walking in the light means allowing God’s truth to challenge our preferences, our desires, and even the things we have convinced ourselves are acceptable.

Because not everything that feels right is right.

Not everything that is normal is biblical.

And not everything we can justify is something God has called us to embrace.

Sometimes, we don’t need another opinion.

We need the light of God’s Word.

So perhaps the question we should ask ourselves is not:

“Can I justify this?”

But:

“Does this align with God’s Word?”

There is freedom in clarity.

There is safety in God’s truth.

And there is grace in allowing Him to show us what we could not see for ourselves.

Walk in the light.
