We tend to talk about hope like it’s a mood — something you either have or don’t, depending on the day. But most of the hope that’s carried me through hard seasons didn’t feel like anything. It looked like showing up to one more Sunday, sending one more text, praying one more short, unimpressive prayer.

Hope, most days, is a decision disguised as a habit. You don’t have to feel it to practice it.

“Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a desire fulfilled is a tree of life.” — Proverbs 13:12

If today doesn’t feel hopeful, that’s alright. Keep doing the small, faithful thing in front of you. The feeling can catch up later.
